Press Box by Creative Synthesis

The Creative Synthesis Collaborative, which specialises in research and education has released a theme which is available as a free download, and as a premium theme with extra features.

Creative Synthesis use the theme on their site, so they’re clearly eating their own dog food. Also check out leonardo bonanni’s site for an example of a site using this theme as a portfolio.

The free download doesn’t include the portfolio view or the more flexible page templates, prohibits the removal of the credit link and is released under a Creative Commons license.

The premium version of this theme provides:

• A nice range of page templates, so you could have a normal blog layout, or a full-blown portfolio site, or something in between. Page templates for archives and links are also provided.
• Four colour schemes: Simple, Constrasty, Dark, and Professional
• Support for widgets, categories (with descriptions), multi-authors, tags
